Repair the Damaged MS Word Document

Home users, professionals, editors, and writers for their day-to-day tasks use Microsoft Word. The documents created in Word are saved in .doc format or in .docx format depending on the version of Word you use. If you use Word 97, 98, 2000, 2002, or 2003 then the document name will be followed by .doc extension. But, in case Word 2007 is used then the document gets saved in .docx (XML) format. Whether you use Word 2007 or earlier version, documents can be damaged anytime due to power sabotage, sudden system shutdown, etc.

When a Word file gets damaged due to aforementioned reasons then header structure of the file gets corrupt. Due to damage of the header when you try to open the document, Word refuses to open it and displays an error message. 1. Navigate to the folder where the damaged .doc or .docx document is available. The damaged document can be identified by its name as the name gets changed to some alphabetical name like AA345D, OX2548O, etc.

2. Right-click the damaged document and select the Rename option.

3. Rename the document with a desired name following by .doc extension or with .docx extension. If the document was created using MS Word version lower than 2007 then rename it with .doc extension else rename with .docx extension.

The file you create in MS Excel is saved in .xls or .xlsx format depending on the MS Excel version using which the file is created. If you create the file in Excel versions up to Excel 2003 then the file will be saved in .xls format. And if the file is created in Excel 2007 then the file extension will be .xlsx. However, the file can be corrupted anytime due to abrupt system shutdown. Sometimes, due to sudden system shutdown, header structure of the file gets damaged leading in MS Excel to display an error message. 3. Rename the file with a desired name following by .xls extension or with .xlsx extension. If the file was created using Excel version lower than Excel 2007 then rename the file with .xls extension else rename the file with .xlsx extension.

Make Word 2007 Documents Compatible with Word 97-2003

MS Word 2007 is the most preferred text editor among home users and professionals as well. Everyone who uses MS Word 2007 must know how easy it is to create, edit, and format various types of documents in it. However, there is a compatibility issue with Word 2007 i.e. the documents created in it cannot be opened with the MS Word’s versions lower than it i.e. Word 97-2003. The file extension in Word 2007 is .docx while in versions from Word 97-2003 documents are saved with .doc extension. Configure Word 2007 to Automatically Save All Documents in Word 97-2003 Compatible Format: Apart from saving a single document in .doc format, you can configure Word 2007 to automatically save all documents in .doc format. Configuring Word 2007 is beneficial for those who need to share Word 2007 documents with the users who do not use Word 2007. You can easily configure Word 2007 to automatically save documents in Word 97-2003 compatible format by executing the following steps:

1. Click the Word 2007 button at top-right corner.

2. Click the Word Options button at the bottom.







The Word Options dialog box appears.

3. Click the Save option in Left pane.

4. Now, select Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) in the “Save file in this format” drop-down list in the “Save documents” section.

5. Click the OK button.





Word 2007 has been successfully configured. Now, Word 2007 will automatically save all documents in .doc format. This is how you can make Word 2007 documents compatible with all versions of MS Word.

Following are some of the home-remedies to permanently cure low blood pressure:

1. Soak 5 almonds in water in a bowl for almost 12 hours. After that peel off the almonds and chew them. Do not drink milk or any other thing with them; just chew raw almonds. The best way to consume almonds is soak them every night and eat them next morning. Within 5 days, you will notice the remarkable improvement in your health. You have to continue this for minimum 45 days. As almonds are good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, you can continue consuming them even after 45 days; there will be no side effect. But, do not consume more than 5 almonds a day.

2. Soak near about 30 raisins in a bowl in night and consume them empty stomach next morning i.e. do not eat anything before consuming raisins. You have to do the same for at least 45 days.

3. Consume more salt in your food for few days. When you start feeling better stop consuming extra salt otherwise blood press can rise.

Password Protect Word 2007 - Excel 2007 Documents

When you work on a shared computer i.e. a computer that multiple users use then you should protect your documents with a password. This is because if any intruder accesses your valuable document, s/he can delete the content, modify the content, or steal information. In this article, you acknowledge protecting Word and Excel documents in Office 2007. Whenever you protect any document, always try to use typical password so that no one can easily break it. Always use alphanumeric password for protecting your documents. In MS Office 2007, you can specify password either to protect the document from being opened by any other person or to protect the document from being modified or for both. Let us execute the following steps to protect a Word 2007 or Excel 2007 document:

1. Click the Office button after you have created the document.
2. Select Save As option. The Save As window appears.
3. Click the down-down arrow in Tools button on left bottom of Save As window and select the General Options, as shown in following figure:


4. Specify password in the Password to open text box to protect the document from being opened.
5. Specify password in the Password to modify text box to protect the document from being modified.
6. Select the Read-only recommended check-box.
7. Click the OK button:


The Confirm Password window appears. This Confirm Password window appears twice if you have specified password in both Password to open and Password to modify text boxes otherwise appears only once.
8. Re-enter password and click the OK button:


9. Now, save the document at desired location on your computer system.

In this way, you can provide security to Word 2007 or Excel 2007 documents and stop others poking inside your documents.
